"Developing a Researcher Workshop"
A blend of theory and practice at its best
The School of Computer Science &IT, Beacon House National University (BNU) and Research Center for Training & Development (RCTD) are jointly organizing a national level "Developing a Researcher Workshop" on 25-26 November, 2011 in BNU, Lahore.
The workshop is designed to train and polish faculty and researchers from critical thinking to the level of publishing research. The program starts with an in-depth introduction to the research planning required at the initial stage of a thesis, research project or a paper. It moves on development of critical review of literature, research design, RQs, hypotheses and writing a research proposal. It is followed by selection of a suitable research method, hands on practice for conducting research, data collection & management, data analysis using SPSS and its interpretation, report writing and publishing papers, using citation management and referencing tools EndNote X5.
The workshop aims in developing advance research skills of the participants through lectures, presentations, use of software, robust training techniques, hands-on practice, exercises and real life examples. Along with theoretical understanding, the participants are challenged to exercise the concepts and then apply those in their own settings.

Day-1 Planning and Designing Research
· Critical thinking, synopsis and proposal wiring
· Searching, finding and critical review of literature
· Citation and referencing in research using Endnote X5
· Qualitative research methods
· Quantitative research techniques
Day-2 Conducting, Analyzing and Reporting Research
· Data collection, its management and preparation for analysis
· Data analysis using SPSS
· Testing hypothesis
· Extracting findings and report writing
· Academic writing and publishing research
