According to UN, at least 100,000 midwives are needed in the world today, especially in countries like Bangladesh. Why? The answer is that this allows the women to give birth to more children that will survive. The children will, in their turn, give birth to even more children. Countries like Bangladesh will become even more overpopulated. Yet more midwives are needed. We are then forced to increase the aid to Third World countries. According to the "Humanity Maximization Principle", the number of people on earth must be maximized, until the earth is devastated.
Against this, I argue that we should let the Bengalese take care of themselves! Let us instead contribute with our knowledge to improve the general level of consciousness - but nature should have its way. What's the point in maximizing the population until a devastating collapse occurs sometime in the future? Somebody calculated what would happen if we instituted a "Rabbit Maximization Principle": the UN has decided that the rabbit population must be sustained at all cost. I don't remember the exact figures, but it would take a surprisingly short time until the whole earth was covered with rabbits. Since the population increase is dramatically exponential, the layer of rabbits would soon be 10 miles high. It would go faster and faster and the rabbit globe would soon reach the perimeter of the moon. Somewhere beyond Jupiter, the rabbit globe would begin to expand at the speed of light.
We must accept the dark aspect of nature and allow nature to have its way. We mustn't desperately fight to sustain all human life. That is equally insane as a "Rabbit Maximization Principle". Although human population increase isn't equally dramatic, the consequences are nonetheless fatal. It won't lead to anything good. In the 19th century, Westerners weren't this crazy. What has happened? I suppose, since God has "died", people have assumed God's role and think that they are responsible for all the brown-skinned people in the world. It is an ideological moral principle that lacks rooting in the heart. It has nothing to do with empathy but is more of a materialistic belief system that aims att maximizing the material well-being on earth. It is high time to abandon this anti-Christian materialistic faith, or the consequences for future generations will be horrifying. The earth is suffering. Species are now becoming extinct at a rate 1000 times the normal, and the rate is still increasing.
We must abandon the "Humanity Maximization Principle", or the whole earth will suffer the same fate as the once beautiful island Haiti, which was once the "Pearl of the Carribean", but is today a tragic sight - overpopulated, its rainforests cut down.
