Some Experience in Horse Handling
An essential part of any equestrian studies program is advanced knowledge of the riding, handling and training of horses, and most programs require students to have some experience in horse handling prior to enrollment. Some institutions allow students to bring their own horse, while others include horse lease and maintenance in tuition costs. Typical coursework includes basic equitation, equine breeding management, horse training techniques, and principles of equestrian management. Bachelor's programs in equestrian studies offer students the chance to double major in pre- veteneraian science or management. Students may also prefer to earn an assciate's degree or professinal certificate. Graduates go on to careers as trainers, horse-show managers and veterinarians.
